Job Description:

The Unit Manager will also be responsible for monitoring and ensuring that nursing care and service delivery is implemented and practiced within a multi-disciplinary quality assurance team. In accordance the incumbent will be accountable for coordinating capacity building, mentoring and training.

Job Responsibilities:

• Identify quality improvement opportunities and ensure appropriate strategy and Quality Improvement initiatives are developed and measured.
• Order stock from preferred suppliers and conduct cycle counts.
• Identify and pro-actively address problem areas
• Manage HR costs in such a way as to ensure cost effective quality care including overtime, temporary staff.
• Manage all costs emanating from the theatre.
• Ensure continuous evaluation of Administrative records and Nursing records.
• Control of asset register.
• Manage charging and billing.
• Plan and organise staffing, including duty hours, time keeping and leave planning
• Manage equipment, planned maintenance programme for equipment service schedules, in conjunction with clinical engineering department.
• Investigate all negative incidents and ensure appropriate capturing on IMS.

Job Requirements:

• Sound financial knowledge and the ability to interpret financial data.
• 2 or more years of experience in a private hospital setting as a Manager or Clinical Nurse Specialist
• An intermediate level of Computer proficiency
• 5 or more years of experience as a RN
• Experience in General ICU.
• Experience in clinical leadership.

Qualification & Experience:

• Diploma in Critical Care
• A relevant nursing qualification – Diploma in General Nursing (NQF level 6) or B Cur Degree (NQF level 7).
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
