Job Description:

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering is located in Johannesburg, South Africa, the economic and industrial heartland of the African continent, and has for about 100 years, been home to many internationally respected academics and produced graduates who have made tremendous contributions to the engineering profession. The School currently has about 850 undergraduate and 250 postgraduate students.

Job Requirements:

At the Associate Professor Level, a Doctoral degree in experimental hydraulics or water resources engineering or related field in civil engineering is required. A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering is essential. The successful candidate will have a record of generating external contract research funding and a track record of successful higher degree supervision. Evidence of excellence in teaching, course development and academic administration, planning and development is essential. Professional registration or eligibility for professional registration is recommended. At the Senior Lecturer Level, a Doctoral degree in experimental hydraulics or water resources engineering or related field is required. A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering is essential. The successful candidate will have experience in higher degree supervision. Evidence of generating external contract research funding is advantageous. Evidence of excellence in teaching, course development and academic administration, planning and development is recommended. Professional registration or eligibility for professional registration is recommended. DUTIES: The successful applicants will be expected to teach discipline-related engineering courses as well as other basic civil engineering topics at undergraduate level, lead a postgraduate coursework programme, participate in academic administration and develop a productive research programme.
