Job Description:

The RSA Supervisor deputises the Team Leader in the daily functions of the field team. In the absence of the Team Leader, the Supervisor performs the role of the Team Leader. On a daily basis, the Supervisor assists the Team Leader in guiding, monitoring and leading the team on all aspects of the daily field activities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Recruit and enrol eligible participants according to study inclusion/exclusion criteria
• Conduct household visits for data collection according set procedures and targets
• Establish a relationship of trust and respect with participants
• Supervisory duties in support of the Team Leader (eg. if absent or as otherwise directed for day-to-day support):
• Report on number of participants interviewed on daily basis to team leader
• Foster good relations with community members in accordance with community liaison strategies
• Transporting data collectors to and from the field when the Team Leader is not available
• Implement the study protocol and procedures at study sites consistently and accurately, as directed
• Conduct informed consent process in accordance with the study protocol and ethics requirements
• Assisting Team Leader to ensure that scheduled times and relevant targets are met

Job Requirements:

• Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities
• Computer literacy, research experience, post-matric qualification, Good Clinical Practice certification, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team, attention to detail, motivated, organised, friendly, professional
• Required minimum work experience
• At least 1 years’ experience in Research Environment; Must have a drivers’ licence and can operate a manual vehicle
• Required minimum education and training
• Matric
