Job Description:

The incumbent is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Student Systems Division within the Department of Enrolment and Student Administration (DESA). As the owner of the student system, the purpose of this position is to ensure that all student administration and services are optimised by user-friendly student systems, through continual improvement, innovation, and enhanced business processes, and management in terms of the student system. A key focus of this position is ensuring that that the University’s brand and reputation is upheld by providing quality system services, information that is reliable and accurate, and systems that are user-friendly, integrated and streamlined.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establish effective work relationships and communication channels with internal and external stakeholders and other relevant entities;
  • Maintain high levels of integrity and acceptable ethical standards;
  • Develop and establish relationships and lines of communication between substructures and individual posts, to ensure that staff members succeed in rendering services that achieve optimal client satisfaction;
  • Training;
  • User support;
  • integrated, reliable systems with a strong focus on customer equity;
  • Knowledge management;
  • Organise the activities of the Division to serve its strategic focus and that of the University. Ensure that the UP strategic plan and the division’s plans / objectives are aligned, implemented and achieved;
  • Strategic planning in terms of the future migration and infrastructure needs of the division;
  • Provide strategic leadership and decision making in respect of the Student Systems and User Support division’s activities according to the vision, mission, aims and objectives of the Department’s strategy. Provide strategic advice and support to the Director, as required. Provide a complete monthly progress report and analysis of the division’s performance against the departmental strategic plan;

Qualification & Experience:

  • A total of eight years’ experience (of which five years in management and at least five years in PeopleSoft student system development), in:
  • WITH
  • Systems development with PeopleSoft Oracle Campus Solutions;
  • Official PeopleSoft Campus training;
  • Post graduate qualification (Honours);
