Job Description:

Kearsney College, a leading independent boys’ day and boarding high school situated between Durban and Pietermaritzburg. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the above position at the College with effect from 18 July 2022. The Sanatorium Sister’s role is to provide high quality empathetic nursing care to pupils at the College.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Record visits and treatment of pupils;
  • Day and/or night duties;
  • Arrange first aid for all sports when required;
  • Booking of appointments for doctors, specialists, biokineticists etc.;
  • Three clinics per day (administer prescribed medication, assess and treat acute illness, injuries and wounds);
  • Arrange transport for medical appointments;
  • Arrange and assist with doctors’ clinics at the Sanatorium (three per week);
  • Treating and referring pupils with chronic or acute illnesses and injuries;
  • Communicate with parents;
  • Attend to emergencies at all times;
  • Manage pupil scripts with the pharmacy;
  • Arrange impact concussion testing and follow-up;

Qualification & Experience:

  • Dispensing license.
  • Experience of working in a school environment would be an advantage;
  • Extensive nursing experience;
  • Professional Registered Nurse with the South African Nursing Council;
  • Code 8 drivers license;
