Job Responsibilities:
- Business Plan Execution
- Day-to-day rock engineering and design recommendations suitably backed up by modelling or other techniques
- Regional and Local Excavation and Support Design (using empirical methods and rock engineering tools)
- Input into mining layouts with regard to support systems and standards
- Carry the MHSA legal appointment (Reg. 7.2. read together with 14.1.8. and 14.1.6.) and ensure that all work carried out at the operation complies with the requirements
- Periodic input into planning
- Geotechnical input to reserve losses and dilution
- Execution of current mine design at the operation
- Management of Rock Engineering staff
- Hazard identification, risk assessments, accident investigation and risk rating surveys
- Quality Assurance and Quality Control
Job Requirements:
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre
- Member of the professional body (SANIRE)
- Working knowledge of Critical Controls, Bowtie Analysis and FOG Management systems
- COM Rock Mechanics Certificate [for Metalliferous Mines]
- Demonstrated ability to meet technical and responsibility requirements of the legal appointment.
- 5 years’ experience in mining; rock engineering or strata control
- Degree/diploma
