Job Responsibilities:
- The Superintendent Environmental Engineering is responsible to manage and coordinate the overall shaft ventilation systems, programmes and department, as well as providing the operational management with specialist ventilation services and expertise.
- Determining, implementing and reviewing short and long term requirements and plans to provide an acceptable workplace environment as per the mine’s strategic plan.
- Continuous underground assessments of workplaces.
- Providing advice and guidance in all matters pertaining to ventilation
- Advising on a safe course of action in emergency situations
Job Requirements:
- Professional registration (Mine Ventilation Society).
- Be abreast with the latest ventilation and refrigeration technology.
- Proficiency in the use of planning simulation software (VUMA).
Qualification & Experience:
- Hold a valid Chamber of Mines Certificate in Mine Environmental Control as well as relevant experience at a related level in environmental engineering.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Have sound analytical and statistical abilities.
- Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre
