Job Description:

This position is responsible for supporting key activities such as month-end, fixed assets, account reconciliations and audits. The successful incumbent will participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the general ledger process area and across the company as a whole and proactively seek opportunities to improve service delivery to business stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process monthly journals as required and supported by authorised documentation.
  • Load and check the daily interfaces from source systems to the general ledger.
  • Assist the business with management expense related queries.
  • Continuous improvement by assisting in automating processes and procedures.
  • Monthly reconciliation and confirmation of intercompany loan accounts.
  • Assist in ensuring that controls and procedures are adhered to and identify control weaknesses that may require additional controls to be implemented.
  • Review of financial results to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Monthly general ledger account reconciliations.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong client service orientation.
  • Analytical ability and logical reasoning.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Deadline driven.
  • MS Office: Strong Excel skills, general Word, PowerPoint and Outlook skills.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Short-term insurance knowledge would be advantageous.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification e.g. B Com Accounting or equivalent.
  • Matric.
  • JDE knowledge is advantageous or any other large general ledger system such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Awareness of IFRS 17 would be advantageous.
  • Minimum 3 years’ of working experience in a financial environment is required.
