Role Purpose

Conduct Nursing and Phlebotomy procedures to collect medical data from our clients as part of the insurance application process.

Requirements

Qualification and Experience

  • Matric certificate/ Grade 12 qualification (Essential)
  • Diploma in nursing (Essential)
  • Registered Nurse with SANC and HPCSA (Essential)
  • Valid Driver’s license (Essential)
  • On the job training and qualification: Blood and Non-blood specimen collection (Advantageous)
  • 1-2 years Nursing experience in a clinical environment
  • Previous Insurance medical Nursing experience (advantageous)
  • Previous Nursing pathology or Phlebotomy experience

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of ethical and legal requirements about Blood and Non-blood collection
  • Knowledge on blood collection and Finger Prick Testing techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge on the pre- and post-analytical handling of blood samples
  • Knowledge of ASISA Policy and Guideline, POPIA Act
  • Knowledge of current medical terminology, diseases, and treatment

Duties and Responsibilities

Internal Process

  • Deliver on all allocated medical requirements within agreed timeframe; in accordance with SOP.
  • This may include individual participation in Wellness days and may or may not be outside of regular office hours.
  • Assessment and Monitoring of clients during medical screening.
  • Repeated accurate recording and capturing of medical data onto internal systems.
  • Ensure positive identification of clients according to regulatory Policy and Guideline
  • Collect blood and non-blood specimens from clients at predetermined locations, using correct sterile equipment and technique that will yield quality results. This may include Point of Care Testing (POCT) methodology.
  • Control stock levels of collection materials to ensure availability at all time
  • Represents the organizational culture by displaying company values during internal al and external customer interaction. Conducts appointments with Ethical and Professional proficiency according to Professional Regulatory Body.
  • Maintain the integrity of all medical and non- medical equipment in line with standard operating policies.
  • Use Fleet vehicles in accordance with Fleet services and company fleet policy.
  • Identify and avoid transgression of any financial and business risks to the company.
  • Minimise the company’s loss by refraining from excessive wastage of resources
  • Perform effective and consistent service delivery that supports benchmark in line with company values and regulatory Principles.

Client Service

  • Act upon client queries within the agreed service level turnaround times that will promote timeous feedback and escalation of queries to the relevant department or stakeholder.
  • Provide accurate information to clients and stakeholders to ensure clients receives the appropriate services.
  • Feedback client information or services against agreed service level agreements; in terms of overall customer targets.
  • Make recommendations to improve client service and fair treatment of clients within area of responsibility
  • Participate and contribute to a culture which, facilitates feedback on service delivery and promotes exceptional client service
