Job Description:

In terms of the Sanlam Group Governance Policy, SDM is managed by the SA Retail Mass cluster, which is part of the Sanlam Life and Savings cluster within the Sanlam Group. The cluster focusses on retail porducts, as well as group schemes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a process for Section 14 transfers of funds, approval of Section 14 transfer requests, lodging of transfer requests with the FSCA and effecting of changes thereof
  • Assist with the investigations and reporting of reportable transactions and activities to the FIC
  • Maintain and update the monitoring log and track monitoring findings and issues to ensure adequate closure of issues and implementation of remedial actions
  • Maintain a FICA register in respect of transactions and activities reported to the FIC
  • Conduct monitoring reviews on administered funds to ensure compliance with FICA, POPIA, FAIS (where applicable) and other applicable legislation, internal policies and processes. Engage with the Control owners and Heads of the divisions regarding findings identified from the reviews in order to agree on remedial action plans and target dates
  • Assist business with initiatives including, but not limited to the transfers of funds, merging of funds, submission of rule amendments to the FSCA and approval requests for exemptions from the FSCA
  • Provide compliance support to RM employees and attend to general compliance queries and matters within the business areas
  • Update and maintain a Policy and Processes Register within RM and ensure that policies are adequately reviewed and communicated to staff accordingly
  • Maintain a Register or Log of all administered funds detailing the description of the funds, exemptions granted under the PFA on funds, pending/approved authorisations from the FSCA, administration issues identified and mitigation actions
  • Assist with data subject requests, PAIA requests, POPIA-related complaints in respect of funds and savings products

Qualification & Experience:

  • Compliance Management post-graduate diploma will be advantageous
  • Computer literacy
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience on retirement funds, insurance, savings and investment products
  • Well-developed communication skills both written and verbal
  • Legal Degree, Diploma, BComm, BComm Law
  • MS Office
  • At least 3 years’ Compliance experience
