Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure staff working on the site meet all the statutory, legal and BME SHEQ requirements, standards, and prescriptions necessary for the performance of day-to-day activities on the site as well as preparing for and executing a detonation. This includes, among other things, the items on the Monthly Site. Inspection Form as well as for underground blasting preparation and exec.
- appropriate cost centres or cost codes, checking for errors or omissions, and making the necessary corrections.
- Responsible for exercising financial control by ensuring that expenditures on site are managed inside the allocated budget costs, are allocated to
- Ensure that all the requirements of the OSH Act, and statutory prescriptions (at a minimum) are met on the site.
- Blasting design,
- Testing and quality assurance of the product,
- Preparation including measuring of holes, pumping, wiring, timing and stemming of holes,
- Monthly report to BME management and mine including a blasting efficiencies report and cost analysis.
- Make sure the necessary controls are in place to monitor usage to eliminate unnecessary waste
Job Requirements:
- Ability to reference and interpret technical operating manuals, specifications drawings and diagrams.
- Working knowledge of production and quality control principles.
- Ability to grasp application and functioning of new technology.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and consistently meet deadlines and schedules.
- Able to respond positively to changing requirements and pressures.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance and quality
Qualification & Experience:
- 3 years’ mining experience as a supervisor or Equivalent (preferably Underground)
- Grade 12 with Mathematics
- 3 years’ demonstrated knowledge of performing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical maintenanc
- Competent A & B Certificate – MQA
- Blasting Ticket (mandatory)
