Job description:

Purpose Statement

  • Enable the achievement of the departmental objectives, which are:
    • Deliver value through Profit Optimisation of the Bank’s Credit portfolios through a focus on monitoring of pricing, profitability, segmentation and client level meta-data
    • Ensure clear and unambiguous reporting on whether the Bank is operating within is Risk Appetite tolerances and propose strategic change if necessary
    • Enable alignment of systems, assumptions, processes and definitions across the credit value chain as related to the total credit life cycle to contribute to the creation of integrated systems and processes.
  • By applying and combining particularly SQL coding skills and expert understanding of knowledge of efficient and effective data structures in the building and / or specifications development of reporting models and solutions to optimise credit profit across the credit value chain.
  • Promote alignment regarding meta data definitions and best practice data structuring between all departments involved in the calculation and reporting of profitability on the credit portfolios.

Experience

Min:

  • At least 2-3 years’ experience in SQL data processing and model building
  • An understanding of costing and pricing accounting concepts

Ideal:

  • At least 3 – 5 years’ experience in data analysis
  • At least 4 years’ experience in processing systems, processes and procedures in the financial services / retail banking industry
  • Experience in Credit Risk

Qualifications (Minimum)

  • Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Data Analysis

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred) Knowledge

Knowledge of the following areas are required to perform the job:
Min:

  • Data Analytics
  • Understanding of budgeting and accounting principles (cost, volume, profit)
  • Financial systems & procedures

Ideal:

  • Strong knowledge of Capitec’s Credit Policy
  • General understanding of the Banks Act Capital Regulations, National Credit Act and the implication for Capitec business and the Credit Bureau
  • Credit industry knowledge
  • Business analysis experience on a banking system
  • Analytical experience on credit portfolio
  • Book management – Soft and hard collections and pay date management
  • Payment systems (Authenticated Collections, Debit Order and Non-authenticated Early Debit Order)
