Job Description:

The Clinical Engineering Technician is responsible for the management and maintenance of all medical equipment as per the manufacturer’s specifications and Health Technology Regulations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Purchasing and motivating for the purchasing of medical equipment..
  • Liaising with medical equipment suppliers to stay informed and trained in latest technological development.
  • Interaction and training of all staff regarding medical equipment.
  • Planning and executing regular equipment services to comply with manufacturer specifications.
  • Reporting on clinical equipment to the Clinical Equipment Manager / Technical Services Manager
  • Where applicable, evaluate National projects implemented, and provide status reports to Netcare Technical Division.
  • Develop and maintain trends of equipment failure and report to Netcare Technical Division, in the absence of a Clinical Engineering Manager.
  • Interacting with Hospital Management in the absence of a Clinical Equipment Manager.
  • Actively participate as a member of a team to achieve goals
  • Develop collaborative relationships to help accomplish work goal.

Job Requirements:

  • Computer Literacy
  • A proven track record in the medical field with a minimum 1 year relevant experience
  • Familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety- and Health Act regulations advantageous

Qualification & Experience:

  • Member of the South African Association of Clinical Engineers (CEASA).
  • National Diploma in Electrical Engineering: Clinical Engineering with two years additional experience and training in the maintenance and management of medical equipment in a Hospital environment.
  • Eligible for professional registration as a Technician at the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA);
