Role Purpose

The Business Architect interprets and contextualizes strategy for operational needs, develops specific artifacts such as business capability maps and value streams to help bridge the gap between strategy and execution, and helps streamline and rationalize the IT enablement process. In addition to developing specific deliverables, views, and viewpoints, a business architect synthesizes and synergies the work of others drawing from disciplines such as strategy development, business analysis, process management, operations, and systems analysis.

The successful candidate must be able to handle a demanding workload, being able to act in the capacity of a Senior Business Analyst, while directing, coaching, and ensuring quality of deliverables within the existing Business Analyst team, while ensuring alignment between business needs and delivery – working closely with the Product and Channel owner to ensure a cohesive and well-defined delivery roadmap.

• 3-year BCom degree in Business Management, Economics, Accounting or any other relevant business-related field, alternatively a 4year B.Eng degree
• Applicable Business Analyst / Architect accreditation and or certification
• 5-8 years’ experience as a Senior Business Analyst or similar role
• Experience in building Business Models and using relevant model-based representations to disaggregate complex business information
• Advanced experience in creating business processes as individual journeys but also at an organizational level
• Experience in planning and deploying IT initiatives
• Experience in managing and directing a team of Business Analysts

Duties & Responsibilities

Team leader (30%):

• Allocated workload to team members within the Business Analyst team based on competencies, experience, and capacity and ensure output is delivered within a reasonable timeframe at the desired quality and stakeholder expectations.
• Coach members within the Business Analyst team to further enhance the BA competencies that would directly contribute to the output delivered.
• Play the role of line manager, ensuring goals and performance commitments are established, tracked, and assessed.
• Ensure that the Business Analyst way or working is clearly defined and enforced to best enable the delivery of business expectations, ensuring adequate processes are defines and implemented.
• Ensure the implementation and maintenance of a centrally housed documentation and artefact management system which will enable the business and the team to reference past deliverables and output

Business Analyst (30%):

• Fulfill the role of Senior Business Analyst for challenging and or high priority business objectives, ensuring requirements are fully understood, recorded, and reviewed.
• Collaborate with the IT delivery teams and respective squads to define user stories along with detailed acceptance criteria to enable successful delivery of business objectives.
• Act as liaison between Business and IT to ensure requirements and limitations are understood and adequate working solutions are identified.
• Ensure the documentation of all relevant artefacts and outputs which includes but is not limited to; Business Requirements Document, Process diagrams and Flows, System Landscape overview, User Journey’s etc.

Business Architect (40%):

• Creates a blueprint that defines the way in which the various departments in a company are integrated.
• Ensures that business models are in keeping with the company’s mission statement.
• Works with the management team to streamline processes, save money and generate more revenue.
• Transfers ideas to research and development and eventually to workable projects.
• To identify strategic business goals that can be traced through the organization and be mapped for ongoing governance.
• To plan and design a business architecture strategy based on carefully scrutinizing various business scenarios and motivations.
• To capture the vital views of the organization through a structured business architecture approach is a key business architect role.
• To illustrate the main business functions of the company and to identify functions that are customer-facing or supplier-related, or pertaining to business execution and business management.
