The DevOps Engineer oversees and leads the activities of the DevOps and Automation department within the Oracle Insurance Policy Administration (OIPA) Centre of Excellence (COE) function and reports directly to the OIPA COE Lead.
First line of defense in protecting the AWS cloud environment against hackers.
Implementation of testing, automation tools and infrastructure.
Defining and setting development, test, release update and support processes for DevOps operation.
Creating the strategy and implementation to mature DevOps to DevSecOps.
Embed a technical review process to review, verify and validate the software code deployed into the project.
Troubleshooting techniques and fixing the code bugs.
Monitoring the processes during the entire lifecycle for its adherence and updating or creating new processes for improvement and minimizing waste
Encouraging and building automated processes wherever possible.
Identifying and deploying cybersecurity measures by continuously performing vulnerability assessment and risk management.
Incident management and root cause analysis.
Strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, contiguous development pipeline (CI/CD pipeline)
Mentoring and guiding team members
Monitoring and measuring customer experience.
Managing periodic reporting on the progress to the management and the customer.
Request For Change (RFC) management in Amazon Managed Services (AMS) (logging, escalation, resolution)
Provisioning infrastructure in AWS (via RFC process, CloudFormation, Console)
AWS Security Management (authoring IAM security policies, logging security requests, user management/permissions)
Infrastructure As Code (development of CloudFormation templates )
Linux and Windows System Administration within AWS (SSH, RDP).
New AWS account creation and initial setup (networking and VPC setup)
FinOps – AWS Cost Management and Optimisation.
Maintenance and Support of 3rd party applications:
- Installation of new functionality
- Upgrading the software
- Liaising with IT Security for permissions
- Migrate to Production environment – Development to Production
- Data promotions
- Diagnose internet issues eg vpc issues, networking issues
ROLE & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
5+ years IT work experience and 2+ years of experience in a senior technical position in a relevant role e.g. System Administrator, Network Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer.
Tertiary qualification in ANY of the following:
Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science
Technical IT diploma from a recognized IT training institution
International IT certification e.g. MCSE, RHCE, CCNA, AWS Engineer
System Administration Experience At a Senior Level Is Required.
Strong proficiency and and experience:
- Linux System Administration (e.g. LAMP, BASH scripting)
- Networking (e.g. LAN, WAN, DNS, TCP/IP, Routing, NAT)
- Firewall and Network Security (e.g. ACL, Port Filtering, Forward/Reverse Proxy)
- Windows System Administration (AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO)
- Python / shell experience
- Java knowledge
- Putty and winscp
- Need to know bash, python and linux centos commands
- Understanding AMS bastion EC2 access and making machines talk to each other
- Understanding networking, AMS VPC, HTTPS, SMTP, internet-of-things,
- Amazon AWS :
VPC, Transit Gateway
Infrastructure As Code (e.g. CloudFormation)
CodeCommit, CodePipeline, CodeBuild
- Advantageous AWS experience:
- RDS (MS SQL, Oracle)
- Landing Zone, Control Tower
Experience with Dev/OPS architecture, implementation and operation.
Knowledge of Engineering and Operational Excellence using standard methodologies. Best practices in software engineering, data management, data storage, data computing and distributed systems to solve business problems with data.
Strong AWS cost management, billing resolution and cost optimisation
Experience in applying SAFe/Scrum/Kanban methodologies.
Strong problem solving skills: The ability to exercise judgment in solving technical, operational, and organizational challenges, to identify issues proactively, to present solutions and options leading to resolution.
