Job Responsibilities:

Overseeing and coordinates the management of records and supporting information services. Provide leadership and expertise in the ongoing development and implementation of an innovative and effective records and information management program. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, the department General Rules, and all approved policies related to records and information management. Develop and communicate best-practice management and preservation strategies for physical, digitized, and born-digital records maintained in distributed and diverse environments across the Department of Health. Engage and collaborate with internal business, IT, program and compliance experts in all aspects of the records and information management program as needed. Oversee and coordinate records and Information management services in cooperation with other RIMS staff across the University. Work closely with the Deputy Director: Records Management and assist in the identification and transfer to archival custody records (in all formats) of enduring value. Assist and provide expertise in disseminating policies and procedures related to managing records and other information resources.

Job Requirements:

Diploma/Degree in Records Management or equivalent qualification. A post-graduate qualification will serve as an added advantage. Five (5) to ten (10) years Public Sector experience in Document and Records Management or Information Management of which 2 years must be at a supervisory level. Knowledge of the PFMA, NARSSA, Promotion of Administrative Justice Act, 2000, Promotion of Access to Information Act, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act and applicable governmental prescripts and legislations. Knowledge of the National and International standards and best practices related to records and information management. Ability to maintain good record keeping (electronic and physical). SKILLS: Information management skills, planning, analytical and organizational skills, good communication and interpersonal relations skills combined with the ability to work with diverse workforce. A valid South African Driver’s Licence.
