GPG Vacancies Department of Education – Critical Care

Job Responsibilities:

Overall strategic leadership, operational management and Clinical governance in the Critical Care Department. Have a vision to become a world class centre for training, teaching and learning, clinical service, research and innovation in Critical Care. Clinical Governance: Participating in clinical service delivery commitments of the Department including commuted overtime at Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital (DGMAH). Ensure availability and compliance of the Departmental guidelines and protocols. Ensure implementation and practice of Batho Pele Principles, quality assurance programs, complaints management and redress with the aim of improving clinical outcomes and patient experience of care. Overall academic responsibility for teaching and learning, which includes guidance and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students in Critical Care, at SMU/DGMAH complex. Overall responsibility for research which includes leading, mentoring and participating in the design, execution, supervision, publication and translation of research in priority areas

Job Requirements:

MBChB & MMed degree or a relevant postgraduate qualification in Critical Care. Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. A minimum of seven (7) years appropriate experience as Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist. Must have abundance of proven management experience within an academic environment and must have proven expertise and experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training and supervision in Critical Care. Must have been an examiner in undergraduate and postgraduate examinations. Participated in convening and conducting such examinations. Independent Research experience with publications, peer-reviewed journals and a PhD will be an added advantages
