Future Planning and Resilience ● Policy and Strategy


This Manager leads a research team responsible for the research

agenda of the City, in support of evidence based decision making. The

research team conducts policy relevant research itself (particularly

quantitative research) and leverages research partnerships for insights

to inform policy and planning.


 A relevant Bachelor’s degree is required and a relevant

Postgraduate qualification is preferred

 Experience in research management and partnerships

 Experience in policy relevant statistical analysis and

quantitative research

 Managerial experience

Key Performance Areas:

 Provide research leadership in support of long term planning

and evidence based decision making for the City

 Develop and manage productive research partnerships

 Provide a strategic interface between the knowledge

community and the City, including understanding the

research needs of City departments

 Develop and lead a research team to support high quality

research across the organisation

 Provide expertise, advice and methodologies for translating

research insights into informants for strategic decision-making

 Lead the research analytics function for the City, including

statistics and surveys to enable planning and decision-making

 Provide leadership and guidance on research programmes,

projects and initiatives to support the achievement of the

City’s objectives, collaborating and leading across City
