Job Description:

The purpose of this role is to strategically lead the safety discipline within the company and to collaboratively develop and reinforce the Group safety transformation framework and associated  execution programmes, to systematically step up the safety maturity across the Group.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead internal and external teams and networks to research, analyse and implement fit-for-purpose Group and operational safety performance interventions, metrics and reports
• Lead the operational safety leadership community of practice ensuring the creation and maintenance of a central repository of critical safety leadership material
• In collaboration with key safety leadership teams, develop, refine and maintain an operational safety leadership capability framework against which to assess and guide organisational safety capability, capacity, talent management and deployment opportunities
• Engage withGroup, technical leads, operational leads and function teams to identify and schedule operational change and/or capital projects to proactively define the safety leadership and corresponding intervention priorities to drive safety maturity transformation
• Engage and collaborate with operational leadership and their teams to effectively analyse and identify core operational priorities required to embed and enhance safety leadership maturity
• Refinement of the Group’s Safety framework policies, guidelines, programmes, campaigns and initiatives to execute the Group’s aspiration of going Beyond Zero
• Compilation, review and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual reports pertaining to the safety discipline
• Refine and oversee the execution of safety incidentand risk reporting, investigation and analysis to shape and embed a culture of continuous collaborative shared, learning from incidents and risks and collaborative proactive safety leadership initiative deployment and measurement
• Create and embed an effective assurance, operational self-assessment and safety leadership audit environment

Job Requirements:

• Operational Value Chains and Safety Application
• Intermediate understanding of behavior based safe work practice and modern transformational safety practices
• Safety/Risk Audit and Assurance Practice
• Advanced Safety and Risk management
• Emerging issues in Safety and risk management
• Minimum of 10 years of operational mining experience, as well as corporate level experience.
• Project management.
• Understanding of Safety Legislation and Regulations of at least one key operational jurisdiction (e.g. South Africa, Canada, Botswana or Namibia)
• Key drivers in safety and risk management;

Qualification & Experience:

• At least 10 years of demonstrated track record in leadingtransformational practices and/or operational Safety delivery at a large operational site or Business Unit level
• Tertiary qualified in Technical disciplines or Safety
