Short Description / Purpose of Job

IM Specialist Infrastructure Platforms is responsible for the IT Infrastructure Technology operations in order to enable and support Sasol business operations. This roles focuses on Server Compute, Storage and Backups, IT Data Center Facilities and Cloud Platforms. Manages maintenance and upgrades of all related technologies in this area. Support the establishment and implementation of technology roadmaps are aligned with IM strategy. Collaborates with the technical specialists and solution architects of other technologies as well as Service Delivery and Service Integration & Orchestration to proactively identify enhancement risk mitigation opportunities. Coordinates and connects key people across the Technology Enablement teams to drive more integrated thinking and solutions across platforms, improving efficiency and innovation. Has a deep understanding of existing infrastructure technologies and they constantly identify and assess new technologies to identify opportunities for technology driven innovation. Ensures that correct plans and procedures are in place to improve the technology enablement teams’ ability to proactively, swiftly and sustainably respond to changing business needs. They are responsible for ensuring that plans and readiness is in place in the Infrastructure Technology Enablement team to recover from exceptions and getting back to normal business operations with minimal delays. Develops and manages relationships with service providers, solution architects and Enterprise architects to contribute to Infrastructure Technology opportunities, standards, policies and roadmaps. Influences key stakeholders externally and internally at all levels to advocate and secure broad buy-in for major Infrastructure technology enablement initiatives. They may be pulled in to drive successful execution of complicated projects with other Technology Enablement specialists across technologies, time zones and partners to plan, develop, prioritize, and advocate for technology enablement strategic initiatives.

Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

Operations Support and Management:

Engages with and influences stakeholders and project teams through change management processes, ensuring that the infrastructure is managed to provide agreed levels of service and data integrity

Performs budgeting, estimating, planning and objective setting for infrastructure technology enablement services

Plans and manages implementation of optimised processes and procedures, tools and techniques for monitoring and managing the performance of systems and services.

Aligns the contribution of systems and services to clearly stated business and financial goals and performance targets.

Monitors and measures performance of systems, resources as well as vendor partners and takes corrective action where necessary and in line with service level agreement, contract and policies.

Provides reports and proposals for improvement

Provide technology operational effectiveness, efficiency and reliability

Responsible to predict, diagnose and resolve technology issues before they impact business services

Act as point of escalation for issues related to Infrastructure and Cloud platform functionality/performance and provide support during incident investigations

Transition & Change Management:

Collaborate with delivery management to ensure that all IT Infrastructure and Cloud Technology adheres to Deployment, Transition & Change Management practices

Quality Assurance & Testing:

Ensure that all Infrastructure and Cloud Technology Enablement related solutions and changes are tested in accordance with the Quality Assurance & Testing practices and policies

Drive adoption and implementation of quality assurance and test automation practices in the Infrastructure Technology Enablement

Asset and Configuration Management:

Work with the all Technology Enablement to ensure that there is proper inventory management and asset management for all IT Hardware Assets

Collaborate with service providers and other Technology Enablement teams to ensure configuration management completeness, compliance and correctness

Formal Education & Min Experience

University Bachelor’s Degree with 6 years relevant experience in Informatics / Information Technology or Computer Science or

National Diploma with 7 years relevant experience in Informatics / Information Technology or Computer Science
